This Moment

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. Colton's 4th Birthday

From the journal I keep for Colton::

"Labor began sometime around 5pm on July 6th, Tyler came home at 6ish and we went to the hospital at 930pm only to be told to go back home. But... the contractions started coming really fast and furious by 1030 we were well on our way to having our baby! (7 cm).... Colton was turned a little sideways, so the fast labor slowed down when pushing started! But at 215am on July 7, 2006 - our little bundle of joy was born! 7 pounds 12 ounces, 20.5 inches long - healthy baby boy!"And today our little bundle of joy is 4 years old! I can't believe how fast these 4 years have gone! Colton is a smart, funny, stubborn, wonderful little boy!
We love you Colton, and can't wait to see what the future holds!**our last week has been filled with family and friends, so the regularly scheduled posts will be interrupted by our memories! Enjoy!

A little late:: {WIP} works in progress

Here is my new fabric. I am in love with it and I have big plans! The knits are special (they are the stripes and some coordinating solids) from Hawthorne Fabrics here. And the other stuff is wonderful too. There are some pants to be made for the boys, some skirts for me and Ayla, and some birthday banners and slobber bibs.... fun, fun!

Truthful Tuesday

This is my creative space/closet/Kellen's closet/changing table. It is a wonder that I get anything done. And I have to say that Tyler often asks me why I have SO many projects going on at one time.... well, just take a look. Clearly reflective of my chaotic sewing area!
However, I do accomplish things here and there and look forward to sharing more!

Third camping trip of the season

On Friday, we decided to go camping. We headed out of town about 3pm, with the intention of going to a place called Holland Lake. We had heard great things of this place, and wanted to try it out; there were trails and a nice lake and waterfall... sounds nice, right?
Well, we got there and drove the camping loops looking for the perfect campsite. We found it; #9. Then we got out. From the second we opened the car door we were swarmed by bird like mosquitoes! Apparently, they had just hatched with the sudden turn for warmer weather. And they were everywhere! Colton got the worst of it, with huge welts on his temples! So needless to say, we made a quick decision to go to another campground! We drove south for about 45 minutes, and right when we were headed into another campground, Colton asks, "Hey, Daddy. Where is my bike?" For a kid who just learned how to ride, he keeps pretty good tabs on it.
It had been left at campsite #9 in the mad rush for the car (along with our bundle of firewood).
So, I dropped off Tyler and C & A t Lake Alva campground, and Kellen and I went back to mosquito land.
Thankfully, the bike was still there.
Lake Alva turned out to be pretty relaxing. There really aren't trails or much to do in general. So we spent time riding bikes and swimming in the lake.
We even made a "chickmunk" friend.Every time Colton would here a chipmunk noise, he would say "Is that our chickmunk?"
Of course it is!
He also was insistant that the litte guy was playing with his tractors when we weren't around!Love, love, love our camping trips.
I plan to make a camping journal to record the different places we go. Tyler thought of that one!
