Grandpa & Grandma & the kids

We headed up to the local state park, Lonepine, with Grandma and Grandpa... the kids had a great time and the weather was pretty decent. We hiked around and showed off the views. Soon, I hope to be hiking up the cliff trail, getting back in shape! I've got a long way to go (about 50 lbs!!) Wish me luck! Most has to do with diet, for sure! Damn you chocolate!!

Time with Papa and Granna

I forgot to put these pictures up of our time spent with my mom and dad aka Papa and Granna. We had a great time with them here, just waiting for Kellen to come. We were so happy to have them here and can't wait to see them again soon.

Monday

Monday is here. Little Kellen is almost a week old, and just as cute as can be. He is (so far) an easy-going little guy and adjusting quite well. He is loved by his big brother and sister a bunch. Ayla is always trying to help change diapers or hold him.... so cute.
However, Colton and Ayla have decided they want Daddy home all the time. He is setting a huge standard by playing with them ALL day without many breaks. Good thing they don't expect that from me! I don't know how he does it! But it is great - he is such a great dad. And it is beyond awesome having him home to help.
And the family that has come has been really nice. The house is clean all the time.

OH, and all the neighbors and their wonderful dinners! I think that is the best thing you can do for someone with a new baby. Not having to worry about dinner is fantastic. And the dinners have been absolutely delicious.

It's a BOY!!

Kellen Reed was born at 7pm on March 9, 2010. He weighed in at a whopping 8lbs 11oz, and was 20.5 inches long. His head was 14.25cm.... which means he was above average in weight and head circumference! What a sweet boy.
We came into the hospital that morning at 6am; had the water broken at 745am, and waited.

And waited.

The contractions were coming, but would be regular for a while, and then go away. But they were getting stronger. I relaxed in the tub for our planned water birth, and tried to focus on the birth.... thinking it would happen sooner than later!

But by 330pm and no REALLY strong contractions (and only 4cm) we decided to kick it up with a little pitocen (sythetic labor drug)... and low and behold! The contractions started up! AT 550pm, I was 6cm dilated and they were getting pretty intense (to say the least!).

By 650pm(ish) I was ready to push. He came into this world pretty peacefully into the big tub, and I got to pull him up to my chest and exclaim, "It's a boy!"
Recovery has been great so far, and at this moment Kellen is cuddled up with his Daddy while Tyler is reading his book! All in all, an absolutely wonderful experience; thanks to wonderful doctor and awesome nurses!

Vintage Swap

I participated in the Vintage Swap, hosted by Heather, this last month. It was my first "swap" and I found it pretty fun.
Ayla and I took a Saturday and went around to some local shops and looked for some vintage treasures for my swap partner, Hannah. We found some awesome little treasures, and then we added a couple from my "vintage" stash.
The point of the swap is to find 3-5 vintage items and send to your partner after they have emailed you some simple info (favorite color, hobby, and such). Then you send it off by a particular day. Your partner sends something to you. All in all a great experience, and I would do it again!

My favorite item that I sent was some awesome reddish napkin rings. These have been in my stash for awhile, and although I love them, I haven't used them in years, so I figured since Hannah's favorite color was red, and she uses cloth napkins - why not! I also found some vintage-ish lace and some retro bright (!) fabric and a couple pillow cases and a nice sheet. All in all, I felt it was a pretty great bunch. Look at that beautiful card! Tyler's Great Aunt (I think) designed this when she was in high school years and years ago. It was part of Tyler's sister's senior project (she did a fashion show, and sold the cards as a fundraiser) I just thought it was beautiful. It is the first one I used out of the pack, because they are hard to part with! The post office obviously needs us sending cards though.... which is one of my goals this year. Hmmmm?
